Left turn blub removal???

99 Camry XLE
My left turn signal does rapid fire blinking. I find it does this only when my headlights are on. When the headlights are off the turn signal blinks at what seems like a normal speed. It is however half bright, in comparison. I figure that the bright filament is burned out causing the problem during the running lights nighttime usage. So far so good???

I popped the hood and looked at where the drivers side parking harness would be and wow. Things are tight. How do I get to the bulb to replace it. No, I haven't looked in the owners manual but will if you tell me it's there....Thanks, Frank

There is just a clip that you will need to remove, but first pop the center cotter pin out about half way, then take the entire clip out. Pull the corner light out forwardly, but you'll need some force to get it out the first time. Then, the bulb is exposed after unscrewing from the case; size is 1157.

If you follow where the corner lamp gets connected to on the front fender, you will see the clip that holds it down. The center pin needs to be popped up (screwdriver will do), then take the clip out. That whole arm is part of the corner lamp assembly. We've actually had a nice day today, though cloudy, but expecting 50 on Sunday.

Ah yes. I saw that little plastic arm (1/2"by3") attached to the inner fender with one of those Toyota pop up hold downs. That's it? That's all besides a good fit that's holding that lamp assembly in place? OK, I'll give it a pry......Thanks, Frank

Yup, that's the clip, all plastic, cost saving.

I was wondering if anyone knew how to modify their turn signals so they do that rapid blinking thingy. I think it's kinda too ricey, but I like it.

OK, so with it in the 50's here in Cleveland today I attacked my bulb problems. I had done the turn signal a couple of weeks ago (for safety) and today took on the bulb icon. I replaced the right rear marker side light and was surprised that it didn't delete the icon. Isn't getting to that little bulb a treat. Anyway, it turns out that my brake light on the drivers side needed replacement to remove the icon. Replacing that was pretty straight forward after you once again get by Toyotas cute little fasteners. What I found interesting was that there are only two brake lights. I thought there would have been four and couldn't figure how I blew 3 out at once. Oh well, all's well that ends well .......Frank
