Help!!!

ok, i took my air filter out to check it, and then i checked my oil, forgetting to put the air filter back in. well, i started it without the air filter, then i remembered and put the filter back in, once i put the top peice of the air cleaner box the car died almost instantly, it sputtered a little, then died. But if i take the filter out and leave the top peice off it will run fine. i know i cant drive like this, i need help soon. thanks

Try to look around. You could disconnect something: wire connectors, vacuum hose.

Just a WAG, but try installing the filter cover, etc. Then reset your ECU. There's a fuse you can pull for a few seconds. (EFI?)

check to see if there is anything blocking the air from getting into the filter area. My suggestion, while the car is off. put in the air filter and tighten everything up nicely, then atempt to start.

If it doesn't start, go to ebay and buy those cheap short ram air intakes and install... that my 2 cents, im not a mechanic, just trying to provide a helping hand.

yea, i tried that, tightening everything up when it was not running, then trying to start it and it wouldnt even start. and i did try reseting the ECU and that didnt work, but since the intake tube was craked in half, almost, i know thats what the problem was. when i would lift the top of the intake box, it would close the crack, and when i would try to put it on, it would open the crack more and it would die. so, what kind of short ram intake should i look for?? i guess i should mention...this is a 1986 Camry, so my question is would any other short ram intake from a different model fit on my camry??
