Hello All: for those tint experts, in New York State the law is 72% visibility on sides. no limit on rear, and 6" down from the top on windshield front. a black car will make the tint look darker. so should one go with 35%, 30%, or 20%. also, how does the car look when you do s mix match of say 35% front side, 30% rear sides, and 25% on rear window? i know this is all according to individual taste and perference, but based from prior experience , how best to tint a black car? thanks.

mixing tints isn't something that may be TOO noticable i think... mind you, this comes from a guy who has tints on a white car with a black car, most tints will pretty much look the same. What I'd recommend is getting it dark enough but to a safe level. At night, i have difficulty seeing through my back window.

in my personal opinion, i would not go with different shades of tint because you CAN tell, or at least i can. For your car 20% should be good, and youll be able to see at night. My friend has 20% on his silver car, but he has black interior so it actually looks like its much darker, so i think you should go with 20%.

I would at least match the front side and rear side tint. I don't like how it looks when the rear sides are dark, and the front sides are lighter.
On my Paseo, I have 15% sides, 30% back window, 30% front windshield strip. 15% sides since 20% was not available, and 30% was the next choice. 30% back to keep my car semi-legal here in CO, and stripping the rear tint is not as easy as stripping the sides. 30% front windshield strip since 15% would be too dark at night for my tastes.
personally i dont think it looks bad at all. I have a Black 2nd gen camry with 25% in two fronts, and 5% in the all around the back. You cant realy tell . and the black paint does make it look alot darker. The only problem is at night, you cant see nothing when backing up. But its great when you have COMPANY... if you know what i mean!!
Ive also got 20% on the back windows, and it looks really dark, but from the inside out its not to bad at all. The reason I didn't go darker was because visibility at night is horrible with 5%. I got pulled over at a road check and the cop thought I had tint on my driver and passenger side windows, which I dont.
Another thing to remember, the darker you go in the back, the darker your front tint will appear to be
