I have searched heavly for this and i only came to an estimated cost of US$180 for a shop to machine rotors.
Does anybody know what the rough cost of machining 2 rotors is going to be for an 02 cam and what is the best method of doing this?
Also; after being home and driving my parents car, where i put my foot on the brake and the car immediatly began to stop V.S. my cam where i must actually press to get stopping. Does this mean my pads are worn and its time to change them?
I know that when i hear them screaching its time to change, but i would like to avoid that.
Rotors can be machined for about $6 ea. I dunno where you got the $180 estimate, but you can buy about three new rotors for $180.
It's hard to say whether or not you need new brakes without looking at them. The brakes will squeak if they are dirty also. Take the wheel off and look at the material on the pads.
It sounds like you have spongey brake. Make sure your rear drums are adjusted correctly. My drums were out of adjustment and it made my brakes spongy. Make sure your brakes are bled.
if you are talking about haveing them reserficed you are looking at anywher from 6 to 30 each. if you mean a custom set the price is sky high. hope you mean reserfesed
I bought some Akebono ProACT pads a few weeks ago, and I was going to install them myself, but then brungold told me that Rob (cam2Xrunner) was working at a shop now that did brake jobs, and he can hook it up for getting the rotors resurfaced. For $60, he changed the pads AND resurfaced the rotors for me so I didn't have to do it. All I've got to do (maybe tomorrow) is adjust my rear drums. $60 is a "hookup" price, of course.

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.
Its all about labor buddy, camrys are pretty easy, and im sure the tech will check over everything, and tell u what you need, probably have you buy some pads from them, all in all coming out to be about 2 hours.
2 hours times about 70 bux for labor, + parts = total cost.
Look around for labor costs. That is whats going to get u.
Yes i want to have my brakes resurfaced. I got $180 off of some website that was directed more towards shops than consumers, and if this had been the price, i would have just bought new ones.
