What's wrong with my window?

At regular cruising speed (65 or so), my (drivers') window occasionally whistles really loudly. I find that nudging the window crank (yeah, manual window cranks) up stops the whistle. I just can't figure out why the window drops that 1/16" or whatever and causes that annoying whistle! Is it loose in the track? Since the glass doesn't rattle, I don't think this is the case, Any ideas? Am I gonna have to tear the door apart? Anyone else with manual windows have this experience? Thanks
Steve

Had it with my corolla. I never took the door apart to find out what the problem was, so I always just assumed that that it was a worn gear or something. Like a tooth slipping. You might want to take a look at fixing that... mine got to the point where it would just fall down like 3 in. when going over bumps, then refuse to roll up. In the end I had to open the door, place my hands on either side of the window, then push it back up. Sucked when it rained.

That's a pretty standard problem on the older windows... A few of the bushings inside the window frame that help the window go up and down correctly are worn. It makes the window not go up and down quite straight in the tracks, so when you think the window is closed, it isn't quite seated. If you can get it to go away by moving it slightly up or down, just do that... you can also try to shim the bushings inside the door if it really bothers you. I had my door apart the other day and noticed a lot of play, and I also get the same whistling problem sometimes. Just adjust the window a bit at go on your way...
