3rd Generation speedometer not working?

My speedometer stops working intermittently after a couple of minutes it starts to bob back up. It just lies dead at zero no matter how hard you accelerate. Its very unpredictable. Is this electrical or sensor problem? The rest of guages on the instrument panel seem to be reading fine.

after the needle goes back up, does it read correctly? if so, then it's an electrical problem. check the wiring harness for any breaks.

Wire harness is behind the gauge cluster.

sorry i'm more proficient in doing regular maintenance with my car and not too in tuned with the electrical aspects and its terms. Is the "gauge cluster" the instrument panel? How would I get access to this component. I did some researching and found that the speed sensor and the "cluster" might also be at fault. Does anyone have any idea where these parts are located? Thanks

its probably not an electrical problem. either it would work 100% or nothing. i'd get a replacement speed sensor. the plastic gear on the sensor wears after a while, and after a while it wont work at all.

the guage cluster is the right behind your steering wheel, with all the gauges in it, i believe you have to remove the trim around it, and there is 4 bolts behind that 10 mm i believe its been so long since i had mine out.pull the cluster out, and check the wires that plug into the back of the cluster.
