SWAY BAR HELP???

Hey guys,

I have 99 camry, technically it should be the same as the solara right? Well I went to get my rear sway bar installed, part number bt39, from whiteline.. and the people who are installing said that the bar was a few inches too big, and it was hitting both struts. I have Kyb Gr-2 struts, could that be the problem? if so what should I do, just squeeze it in there, or get a smaller bar? if so what kind should I get.

Thanks for your help,

Leo

The swaybars for the Camry/Solara are identical. I also have the Whiteline bars F/R with the KYB GR-2 struts, so that shouldn't be a problem. My guess is that they're installing the car on a lift that lets the wheels hang down. If that's the case, then the rear antisway bar won't fit because the bar won't clear the struts. However, the swaybar will fit once the rear suspension is supporting the weight of the car. My shop had the same problem, if they don't believe you have them install the swaybar and leave the endlinks unattached. Then crawl under the car and rotate the swaybar and it'll fit...

Hope that helps!

Thanks alot dude,

they are not willing to go under my car, so I guess I'm going to have to install the rear myself. Thanks for the help, I feel relieved!!

peace,

Actually, I only had the shop do it because they were also doing the struts and springs (Eibach Pro-Kit) as well. I think the rear swaybar shouldn't be too bad of an install, just back the car up on some ramps and that should give you the clearance you need. That's what I did when I re-lubed my bushings and added teflon tape to the bar to cure the squeaking that developed after 3 months...

Good luck!
