wiring

How can it be that the ground wire is the one that is conected to the power wire. From my knowledge power goes to power and ground goes to ground. So what makes this correct.

Cut the ground wire for the parking light. Tape off the end that goes to the
car cos you won't be using it anymore.

Splice the ground wire from the parking light (the bulb socket) to the 12V+
wire of the blinker. You'll need a piece of wire and some crimps to do this.

Parking lights off = parking light and blinker both blink at the same time

Parking lights on = parking light and blinker blink alternately.

Remember to cut the ground wire on the parking and only use the end that
goes to the bulb socket of the parking light otherwise you'll end with blown
fuses. Also verify the wires with a DMM before you cut and splice.

Ground wire on corner light = white wire with black stripe.

12V+/signal wire on blinker = green wire with yellow stripe.

from what i can tell your trying to do some shit to ur parking lights. You are right that ground is ground and power power. but if your parkers use the wedge type bulb then you should realise that they are not polarity specific. i.e you can put them any way round and they will still work. the terminals ofthe parkers can be either positive or -ve.

when you signal to turn or what have you, a signal i sent to make the blinker blink. when you turn on the parkers a they come on as power flows from the +ve to the -ve.

The instructions tell you to disconnect(cut) the parkers -ve(ground) wire.
then you connect the ground wire that is still attached to the parking light to the ground wire of the blinker by way of splicing. this ensures that there is still a ground connection. (ground is always connected, but you only have a full circuit if there is a flow of power coming from the +ve (power) cable).

so now your parkers are connected to the power switch for the parkers and the ground for the blinker.

when you turn on the parking lights it might not come on... i think a bit hard trying to picture it....

shit now i'm gettting confused as are you i presume. :-?

anyway what you are doing is just making the blinker attatched to the parking lights and they are affected by what the blinker does as you had written above. just follows the instruiction if you wish to but do check with a DMM.

someone correct me if they can.... not entirely correct, i think...jsut confused.

I see that you found one of my old posts.

Alternating ground.

So what makes this correct.
The directions are for making your parking lights also act as blinkers but, you don't lose the parking light function.

Its correct cos it works. I've done the mod to a few cars and it works perfectly fine. I've even added sidemarkers to this and wired them up to constantly stay on (only when the parking lights are on of course) and they also blink when you signal.

Don't believe me? Try it out for yourself and see but, follow the instructions carefully and check the wires with a DMM cos i'm not gunna be responsible if you f**k something up.

Wrong.

The ground wire from the parking light (the end still attached to the bulb socket) gets connected to the 12V wire (its alternating 12V) on the blinker.

Hey 88LE, could you post a link to the instructions for hooking up your sidemarkers to act as turn signals? I'm planning to do this too.

I don't have a link to the instructions. The instructions in the first post was something I posted up along time ago.

I'll try to draw up a diagram in Photoshop or MS Paint and post it up.

Heres the wiring diagram I drew up:

The top part of the diagram is based on the instructions in the first post. How to rewire your parking lights to also act as a blinker.

The bottom part of the diagram is wiring up your sidemarkers to function as a blinker. If you also want them to function as a parking light use the top portion of the diagram and wire the sidemarker to the parking light.
