stock stereo swap

will a 2005 (or earlier) stock stereo work in the '06? i heard that the wire harnesses/plugs have changed slightly. i want to get a 3-in-1 CD/tape/radio toyota deck from eBay becuz the dealer charges $700 for one. i just hope the earlier models plug-n-play in my car. thnx y'all...

i got the one i took out of my 2005 se they should be the same if intersted could give better price than ebay.

yo, any chance u can show pics of the front face and the rear sockets/plugs? i'd be down 2 buy off u. it has the tape player, right?

I have a 2006 3-in-1 CD/Tape/AM/FM that I took out that I'd be willing to sell. I also have a 2005 CD/AM/FM that I bought off ebay to experiment on, and yes it does have a completely different main wiring harness than my 2006 so I could never do my experiments that I wanted. Both units for sale. The 2006 was only used for about 600 miles.

even if the plugs don't match, there are only so many wires that do so many things on a CD player- you can just do a search on tn, find the toyota wiring color diagram and resplice everything- it'll just take another 15min if you twist and tape, or an hour if you want to solder and shrinkwrap

Could the differences in plugs be model based, internal/external amp?
