i've seen guys talking on here how its not that hard to put the kit on a cam if the holes are already pridrilled, the back bumper has bunch of bolts or whatever. I just got the kit its brand new, what size drill bit do i use to drill the holes? what is the easiest way to do it yourself?, also the kit has couple really small defects here and there, is it even worth me puting it on and then taking it to bodyshop to get them to shoot it, cuz i heard they gotta take the stuff back off, to prime it and fix every little scratch on it, then paint it and then put it back on the car. I mean how much xtra you guys think they'll charge me to fit it?
thanks
I think you'd be better off going to the shop for everything....
but...
how much did you pay for the kit?
is it a real erebuni kit, or knockoff.. if it the real one.. you should be able to put it on.. if not... its gonan cost you to get it put on....
you might get lucky if you buy an off-brand, but erebuni holds the origional mold, so it will fit quite better.
as for drilling the holes, you need to be sure you put them in exactly the right spot too, so be careful. if you are in any way unsure about doing it yourself, have it professionally installed.

i'm a mechanic my self so i mean i know it dosent really mean much, but i have all the right tools, lift, help from other people holding it up in place, and most importantly i got time :0, i didnt get it directly from erbuni i got it from www.gotperformance.com, the only outlines for the holes that i can see is on top of the rear bumper, everything else is straight as an arrow, how exactly do you make sure that the holes line up, do you mesure the old stuff and drill the holes exactly at the same spots? or do you fit it on first then as its on the car you mark them with a pen or something and then drill?
thanks
another thing if i put it on will it be ok to take it to the body shop and get them to prep it and paint it on the car?
yes just be sure you have the dry install done before you paint it. i got a temporary paint job at maaco, it was like 130 to paint the whole kit. the paint matches decently, so im happy with it for the price

what i did was use doublesided 3M tape underneath the long sections, and drilled holes nearest the bolt that attaches the ends of the bumper. ive also added a few other supports, some to keep the bottom of the bumper from wiggling back and forth in the wind
thanks jon you are a lot of help, when you say dry fit it you mean fit it on before i get it painted but i mean it will be fine if i leave it on the car and take it up just like that? lot of people that i talked to, i mean i know they might not know their stuff but they say I should not ever paint it on the car because you will see the white gel where the bumper meets the body cuz paint will never be able to get there, blah blah, i just not trying to do all this i want to put it on and then take it and get it painted

that kind of method is ok if you are getting your whole car painted. what i did was install the kit first, took it off the car, then loaded into my tacoma and had em paint it. this way i didnt have to trust them to mask off the areas of my car not getting painted.
one note, this is only a temporary paint job. hopefully i will soon be repainting the entire car so i can shave all my emblems, and do other secret things
i hear you, i'm just afraid to crack he paint if i puting it back on when it flexes, so i think i'm going to have the bodyshop do it on the car only thing i was worried about is them getting it underneath the back bumper and the front, skirts and all you gotta laydown when you spraying, but the car is pretty low, i guess they can do it though, thanks again john

no problem man. unless you completely bend the bumper will it crack, remember this is fiberglass and not urethane, so it is 1/4 as flexible. im just tryin to save you some headache if they have some overspray and it ends up on your bumpers. im sure if you trust the place they will know what to do however.
Well today i got the kit on, took me half a day yesterday and half a day today, so pretty much all day, the kit didnt want to fit that well, but i made it fit really nice, now the problem is painting it, everyone wants to take it off and blah blah, the side skirts i did with ribbets, well some of it, made the supports for the back and all, looks good, so theres no going back and taking it off, now i need a place that will paint it on the car, around here it will be hard to find someone, Damn Dodge dealership next door quoted me 1500 u.s dollars to take the back and front off refinish and paint, put it back on and do the side skirts on the car.....i was like "god damn, for that much you can paint a house :o , anyway i'm kinda pissed someone else quoted me 600 over the phone, on the car. So that sounds more resonable, gotta go check this place out on monday

hey buddy..........i paid 1250 to paint my kit.......so it is spendy for a good job
I suggest just going to maaco, getting a low cost paintjob and just do the entire car like i did. I like the way it came out and plus i'm not going to enter in shows so i am not into the small little details. http://www.cardomain.com/id/gqdabien
another option (not recommending you do this) is to have a friend key every panel on your car. make an insurance claim, pay their deductable, and they give you a 4500 check to restore a factory paint job (this is average cost for factory paint job in the US). then take your car to a good shop, have em paint it for 2500 and use the remaining to indulge in something else on your car.
again, my disclaimer:
i have known people to do this, but i am in NO WAY recommending it for you. obviously there is a very very large penalty if you are caught, and in my opinion is not worth that risk.
