How many people are using mobil 1 clean 5,000 and noticed negative things about it? Well since i changed to it my valve cover gasket leak got worse (just ordered from autozone) and I think that i notice a very slight rod knock, only under heave acceleration at about 2500-3000 rpm's. I am not really convinced of using this oil again on the next oil changed. i like the fact that it has more detergency than reagular oil, but it kind of smelled like some type of incect poison or some thing but then it went away after a few hundred miles. If i use castrol it won't do any good job of cleaning the inside of itbut it will do a good job at cleaning. Does anyone have anything to say about clean 5,000?

Been using it for about 3 oil changes on both my cars now, only thing i notice is a small knock on a very cold start, it goes away very quickly, I dont worry about it and no leaks here.
My guess on your valve cover gasket leak is it had a seal and the detergents ate away at it, it happens if you add oil additives too.

I have never used oil additives before on my cars, exept on my dads truck with restore 4but that is the only time. I guess that the detergency in the oil cleaned the gaskets and made the leak worse. I also have that cold start tick but i think it had it before i swhiched to mobil, but maybe mobils oil is alittle thinner or it doesn't cling to the metal as good as other oils.
and about the knock...what kind of gas do you use? is the oil heavier than the last type of oil you were using? if it is, then your engine may be working slightly harder than before, and if you use low octane gas, the added work may make your engine ping- esp if you have the 1mz

I don't think that the clean 5,000 is synthetic because it's cheap in fact i think it's afew cents cheaper than castrol gtx. And about the gas part, I use shell V-Power (91 octane). I am thinking that a bearing is spun or something, I also noticed that it some times does it louder than some other times. It basicly does it like say like when i am going at bout 15 mph and then i press the accelerator about half way, that's when i usually hear it but at full throttle i don't think i hear it at high engine speeds like at 6100 rpm. To tell you the truth a few days ago i checked the oil and i looked at it care fully and i saw what i thought was a vey very small and thin pice of metal which was like about ~1/16 of an inch but you could only see it when you looks at very close ly and under good white light. I hope i don't have to replace this engine within a year. I think it's dues to the clean 5,000 because it might not have very good film strenght. Maybe becayse clean 5000 is kind of new to the market. Bot i don't really know.
Mobile 1 synthetic ---full syn can have a mileage on it ...the one in my car says 15,000
