Anyone tried to get their Camry into a Tuning Mag?
I wonder if some of the uber Camries (all 5 of you guys) out there have ever attmepted to be featured in a Tuning Mag. I bet Tony and a few others could have a chance. I always see some of these mags devote an article here and there to some early 90's Japanese creation. I bet GrassRoots motorsports would take a camry. Could be good for bringing some attention to the community.
ooh. i'd love to get sponsored though. that'd be awesome because we're the rare tuners. i haven't tried though. i wouldn't know where to start. plus my engine is pretty much stock minus the Big 3 and grounding etc.

I have Modified and HCI in the process of creating an article on my Camry since early last year, but I am taking my time in thinking twice about it. Mainy because of photo rights + misc issues. Plus my Camry is just a bit too rare, and the fun factor of being on a magazine doesn't justify the added trouble from unwanted attention and hassles. If someone wanted to identify my car now here on the forums, it would be very easy. Now the problem becomes 100x worse when the car gets on a magazine. I would start thinking about it when my Camry sees less street time and become more of a weekend car. Right now, I still drive it 4-5 times a week and go shopping and stuff.

It's not about how hot the car is. It's about how much money advertising cash the builder has spent with the magazine. It's basically impossible unless there is a relationship.
i have thought about it... there is a shit ton of innovation, money, and effort spent on the car... but i just dont' know how much people want to hear about it...
honestly - there is almost nothing untouched on the car - a fully redone interior, all restiched and dyed and painted
a custom turbo setup with high quality parts and one off fabrication
wheels, custom HID projectors, carbon trunk and hood, body kit, custom paint...
i still don't think it is enough though, and the car probably doesn't have enough of a theme to make it into the magazines... maybe some day though - i just don't know if all that attention and shit is what i want
i kinda like just rolling up and telling people about it, and sharing with buddies on TN and stuff...

Everyone says that they wouldnt want to be in one or they think that there would be too much publicity.... I think it would be pretty cool. Im doing a lot of custom work on my car ( 2 trunk panels molded together, right now M3 lip is bieng Bondo'd on and smoothed into the trunk, front toyota piece is bieng custom done without the toyota symbol, 4 runner hood, and custom front bumper). I think that with a lot of custom work, it would be cool to kinda "Showcase" what has been done. My plans for the future are to go somewhere in the import scene, wether its tuning, opening up a shop that is directed upon one brand of car, or owning a custom shop. I think that a magazine article would do nothing but help get someones name out or let people see what they can do, as long as they job is done clean
And yes, boost will happen, im just trying to work my way from the outside in...
Import Racer Magazine is getting back to me this week... WOOOT

yaaay yukio... any changes we can expect to see if you get into the mag? or will it be the camry we all know and love?
Nothing new... just riding on coilovers and maybe change the muffler to JIC DE Type 2.
Now, I just gotta get rid of the damned thing! hahaha.

I think there is another reason mags feature cars, and thats innovation or uniqueness, and some camries here definately have that. See, people want to read about all the old BS but then in the middle of the mag there is always an oddball just to have that cool/unique factor. GrassRoot motorsports is good about that. I was reading one where they did a big article about a track ready 91 mx-6 (non turbo). Thats why I think we can get some Mag space. And for the community this would definately be helpful becasue part makers will realize there is a market for it and other readers might see that a custom camry is actually a pretty cool car. I think alot of people like the underdog (which is what a Camry definately is).
