Headlight Replacement

I've got a 1990 camry and I'm trying to replace the headlights. I've run into two problems though. First, my Haynes manual says to simply push down on the release tab for the bulbs but it doesn't seem come out. Secondly, it looks as though o replace the drivers side bulb I might have to remove the coolant tank.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

You push on the tab to release the electrical plug. It might take a bit of force to get the tab out of the way. (you don't actually have to remove the plug, I don't think...) Try on the passenger side first, its easier because there is less stuff in the way. From there, you rotate the base of the bulb and pull it out. Don't touch the glass of the new bulb when you put it back in. Installation is the reverse of removal. Yes, on the drivers side, you have to remove the battery tie-down and coolant tank (well, at least move them out of the way). Its just two bolts... nothing big.

Just push down on the tab and pull on the plug at the same time. Its a pain in the a** but, it'll unplug.

Then you need to remove the black plastic locking ring holding the bulb in. Its on the back of the headlight housing and it twists off. Twist it to unlock it then pull it off.

Now you can pull the bulb out.
