I notice many people would like to change to air intake, but I am not sure if I change to air intake then will my car has better performance? or just keep buying and changing the traditional one?
Thanks.
Ill explain to you since the people who flamed probably dont even know. Your car works by air and fuel mixing together to create combustion, which intern makes your engine turn over. Adding an aftermarket intake basically allows for more air to be sucked into your engine, enhancing performance MILDLY. A cold air intake is located usually more down toards your bumper, where colder air can be sucked in, which allows your engine cooler air. The cooler an engine is, the better it will perform. A regular intake, where you can see the filter usually where your battery is, on the other side of your engine bay, is a short ram intake.
For the $$$ spent and the HP gained(?) and the added noise, IMHO it is NOT worth the $$$. Also, the stock airbox IS a CAI now.... All your doing is using a less restrictive air filter, basically. The MAF is fixed in size and will flow only so much. Also, the throttle body and the intake runners limit the flow as well... all said and done, if your going to "increase" air flow, you have to look at the entire path... to the cylinder.... And IF you do that, then you really need to make sure the fuel system is in check because more air = more power ONLY with a properly matched amount of additional FUEL..... That is why I admire the ones that have correctly done a S/C and turbo setup, as it is a MAJOR tuning event. Fuel pumps, injectors, pulse duration, wideband O2's correct exhaust pipe sizing and etc......
Not saying an aftermarket intake is complete crap, just that it is MORE eyecandy than anythng else.

Don't be a smartass. No one flamed him, we just told him to search. I know exactly what an intake does, but this has been discussed so many times that he could have easily searched for it. Also, it doesn't enhance performance "mildly"... it doesn't enhance performance at all. You THINK that it does because the engine is louder without the resonator, but in fact, its all just noise.

In theory, yes. In reality, your engine doesn't get the "cold" air. Yes, the air entering the intake is colder than the air in an engine bay, but since most, if not all, CAI's are made of aluminum, which has fantastic thermal conductivity, by the time the air gets to the intake manifold, it's as or nearly as hot as air taken in from the engine bay.

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.

Man, I hate new members that are smartasses. Before you start saying we flamed saying that we "dont' know" or say "Use the Search Tool" look at the post and join date of that member, and compare it to yours. If you were here long enough you would too know that it's been discussed many times. Disgusting. :
agreed if there have been endless discussions about the subject why go over it all over again instead of him taking 2 seconds to look up the info he is looking for rather than him waiting for one of us to reply to tell him to look it up
