Gen5 clicking while idle

anyone hear a clicking kind of noise while the engine is idle?
sometimes hear it when i am at the traffic light or just making a small stop to pick someone up or drop them off. tried switching into neutral and still the same..i rev the engine a bit..still hear it. anyone else come across this problem or know what it is?

Is it from inside the car or outside? Is it like a relay clicking or like valve train noise? Does it increase in frequency with the engine rpm or does it stay constant?

the sound is consistant. i can hear it more inside ...can't seem to isolate it outside. i am assuming it would be more a relay noise rather than valve noise as the sound is consistant the whole way through.

^Both are wrong. The way that the intake manifold on the 2AZ was designed, as air passes through the manifold, it makes that sound. There's an updated manifold that you can buy from Toyota for like... $300 but I don't think its worth it. There was a TSB about it.

^ Yeah, I've learned to live with it. It bothered me at first, so I did extensive research on it, and found that a lot of people with 2AZ's get this clicking sound. I started looking through all of the TSBs that I could that pertained to sound, and I found one that described the clicking at idle and at very light acceleration.. and it explained the whole intake manifold deal.

If you can find a way to get access to alldata.com or some other TSB provider, the TSB is # EG018R-04.

I hear that too on my 95 camry, it comes and go. Its like a light rattling noise as described during idle or light acceleration. The Techical Service bulletin only indicates that 02-04 models are affected, could earlier models have the same problem too?
