Total Electrical System Failure
The negative battery cable terminal end in my 01 Avalon with a tad over 17K committed hara-kiri. The cable strands at the point where the cable end was crimped onto the cable disintegrated due to an electrolytic action. When enough of the strands turned to powder, there was insufficient mass at the crimp point and the crimp disconnected resulting in a total electrical system failure. I have had the car serviced exclusively by the dealer who brags about "17 inspection points" which are checked during the lube, etc. In discussing this problem with some other Toyota owners this is an apparent weak spot inthe electrical system. And the total system failure which occurs could result in an accident depending upon the time and place of the failure. I would seriously suggest that you eyeball the cable terminal ends to determine if this corrosion is in process and take the necessary steps to correct problem. ///\\\SemperFi
