Gen5 Factory Alarm Problem

I recently purchased a pre-ownd 2006 Camry. I love the car, but the factory alarm goes off at random. It does not happen often, but it is annoying when it does happen. I have taken it to the dealer twice, but they have been unable to reproduce or to diagnose the problem.

I have seen many posts here regarding battery life, but that does not seem to be my situation. Have any of you experienced similar problems? Any idea why a relatively new, less than 3k miles, car would have this problem?

Try adjusting your Glass breaking sensor(GBS) to less sensitive. GBS Might be the problem why alarm is sensative. If something accidently knocked on your glass window, it will sound. So, if you adjust it to "less sensative" it will only sounds if there is a break in.

Keithy,

Thanks for the reply. I ran the idea by the dealer, who told me that since my alarm is a factory installed one, it is not as sophisticated as most after market alarms. It simply has sensors in the doors to detect voltage drops. No GBS to adjust. We're at an impasse right now.

I appreciate your help though. At least that issue is out of the way.

Ok. I know that a lot of times, factory alarms do come with a GBS as a "package". However, I have also seen cases the alarm are add ons as an option and did not have GBS.

My dealer has looked at the problem again and says the ECU has a short. They are ordering a new one, which should arrive this week.
