4th Generation LED Festoon Dome/Map Light Swap

Has anyone swapped in, an LED Festoon Domelight/maplight instead of the OEM Incandescent Festoon bulb.

I read somewhere that the LED Festoon Bulbs don't light up as much area as the LED ones or aren't bight enough.

If you swapped an LED Domelight in, how is your experience with the New LED dome/maplight???

Pictures would say alot!

I got em! I got the map and the dome light. the dome is white, 9 led lights and uhm the map...i forgot. I dont have pictures right now, and pictures dont help too much as all cameras adjust to different lightings.

The map light white is really white, while the dome light seems to give off a light bluish tint. No the map light isnt as bright as stock but it looks awesome. you may need to squish the clips a little to keep the contacts on the bulb. The dome light does a fairly good job of lighting things, but i wish it were whiter.

I also have a 5led trunk light which is for sure brighter than the oem bulbs.

Overall...its more for looks, minus the trunk one.

If you're looking for a whiter light, try finding a true xenon festoon bulb. Leds simply don't have the same light output and light dispersion as incandescents.

Nodrogkam Snakeyes,

Thanx for the quick review nodrogkam! Yea, i had the notion, it would be more looks, less light output.

Snakeyes, Have you ever seen or tried any of those Xenon festoons? they seem interesting.. You're right the light dispersion on an incandescent can't be matched by uni-direction emitting LEDs.

You're welcome.

Personally ive tried in my dome light a set of xenon bulbs. They were bright but they didnt last. it came with two bulbs and they both didnt last long. I cant speak for what snakeyes is recommending to you. hopefully those will last longer.

I just like leds because i'll probably never need to replace them and they'll never drain my battery even if i leave them on for 24 hours...haha

mystickid,

I haven't personally tried those xenons at that site but i did order some cheapo xenons that sucked but i don't believe they were true xenon bulbs. A true xenon bulb is filled with xenon gas which gives off a white "HID" glow. I think i'm going to order some, so i'll let u know how they are.

Alright,

sounds awesome Snakeyes! can't wait. I hope they turn out well for you.

Nodrogkam,

yeah, that's a serious advantage w/ LEDs. 100,000 + hours.
