4th Generation steering wheel swap?

I've been looking into swapping my stock leather wrap steering wheel for a mahogony wood grain Avalon wheel. I went to my dealership and they wanted nothing to do with it so I am all alone on this one. I don't know where to start so anything will help me out!

First off you need to know if all the connectors are the same and wired the same. After that you pretty much just carefully do it. The shafts should be the same size and spline. I'd disconnect the battery and leave the headlights turned on while doing this as you will be unplugging the airbag. In fact you may wish to look up instructions for replacing the airbag first hand. Also you will find a plastic thing inside with flat wires in it, keep this turned the way it is when you take it loose. The side panels normally pop of the wheel to expose the nuts that hold the airbag on.
Good luck and take pictures.

if you've got an airbag changing the steering wheel is a bad idea

I guess this is more complicated than I thought. I'm still gonna try because I'm an idiot but I'll post whatever I find.

The Lexus ES300 from the similar years were available with a wood steering wheel as an option, if I remember right. Those should swap over directly. Finding one used is toughm however.

Other option is to send your steering wheel to a place to get this done. Take a look at thins link. I've been thinking about this also.
