5sfe simply refers to the engine code used by Toyota. Your '92 cam was the first car (if I'm not mistaken) to use the 5sfe motor, which is essentially an enlarged, evolved version of the 3sfe (a 2-liter motor as opposed to your 2.2) which preceded it. My '87 camry has the 3s-fe motor. The 5s-fe was used until the fifth gen cams came out last year. I believe the new motor is called the 2az-fe or something like that (Fellow TN members help me here!) Here are some other engine codes you'll see fairly often here at TN:

2JZ-GTE- This is the twin-turbo engine found in '93-'98 Supras. Occasionally you see a retard noob post saying he wants to transplant one of these 320-hp bad boys into his cam. The non-turbo version found in lesser Supras was called the 2JZ-GE (notice there's no T- no T= no turbo)
3S-FE and 5S-FE- camry motors. The 3s was used from 1987 to 1991 and the 5s motor from 1992 to 2001.
3S-GE and 3S-GTE- The 3S-GE is the non-turbo Celica motor which was used in the 1986-1990 GT-S. (Was it used anywhere else? I dunno...) The GTE is a turbocharged unit (hence the "T" in the code) which kicks out 200 hp and was used in the Celica All-Trac and MR2 Turbo.

Hope I was of service.

Steve

Just to give you a little bit more information on it. It stands for 5 generation S block F head and E is fuel injected. An F head has 22 degree angled valves and a poor and small intake and exhaust ports design for flow. A G head has 45 degree angled valves with a great flow for the intake and exhaust ports.

Electronically injected, right? Like no carb?

That is right E means electronic fuel injection. If the engine was supplied the fuel by means of a carb there would be no letter for that for example you can have either a 4ag which has a carb or a 4age which has electronic fuel injection. Although the last year for a car or truck having a carb on a toyota would be a 93 cheap model 4 cylinder truck. Which had the 22r motor which to me the 20/22r is one of the best toyota motors made. And I hope to get my dad's 81 celica for my college grad present in the spring which has a 22r in it.

That's cool. My moms '83 Celica GT has a 22re. 22r/22re is a good example of electronic vs. carbed, eh?
