Bloody cable would not open trunk & key was never provided.-- Is it supposed to be the same as door key?
Anyway removed the pull crank & tried cable direct -- no, go
So went in through trunk & released . Now working fine -- not frozen no jams so what was happening?
Now will look for a replacement trunk lock & key -- Anyone parting out?

the 'master' key opens, 'valet' key wont. if your key cant lock/unlock your glovebox, better talk to whoever you got the car from.

It may make a difference which way you turn the key to lock the trunk too. One direction allows the trunk to open with the inside release and the other does not. At least on my '92 and '01. (valet position)
Bring your Registration for the car to the Dealer Parts counter. They will make a new MASTER Key for ~$10. Note, Car must be registered in YOUR name to do it.
Also, my Nana's '95 Rolla JUST had that problem. Key would not work in the trunk. I went to a parts store, bought some graphite, sprayed it in, jiggled like hell for a wil, and it works as new now.

only the master key will open the trunk when turned to the right, if you turn it to the left, and then remove it, leaving the slot in the horizantal position,it diables the inside release.
Actually I thought the main reason was to prevent kids from getting accidently locked in and dying. The mafia aspect was just a bonus.
Thats the other main reason also. For kids, and also for carjackings. Many people during a carjacking were put in the trunk with no way to get out. This prevents both of those. It is a REALLY good idea they did it.

Mine is a used cammy: My keys will only unlock the drivers door. It will not lock it or lock/unlock the passenger door. It does work in the trunk.
Any thoughts? I did lube and jiggle and can get the drivers side to lock once in a while with the right jiggle action. And if the planets align properly the passenger door may let you in on occasion but never if its raining. It makes it hard to be a gentlemen and I'm afraid if she has the keys, she might just dust my a$s and leave me. So we do need a solution here!
Is it the key or the door locks?
Thanks,
Randy

^ What kind of lube did you use? You need to use graphite. It's dry, so it does not evaporate like WD-40/others. It has solved every lock issue I've had in any car. Less then $2 a tube also.

^ Its called "Tri Flow Super Lubricant" with teflon. I got it at t bike shop its for cables and chains and is not supposed to run off in water.
It made the locks way better than they were but i still can't turn them like they should unless the jiggle method is used.
So tell me more about the valet keys. Niether of the keys i have are original toyo, perhaps I should start their?
Tell me more about: "The difference in the valet key is that the tip is wider for 3mm than your normal one." cause for i all I know I don't have masters????
Oh - this care is an LE with pwr door locks.
Thanks,
Randy

If the key opens the trunk, driver door and turns the ignition it is should be the master key. If it doesn't unlock the passenger door only then that lock is probably frozen or maybe someone replaced it before you bought the car. The valet keys would open the doors and turn the ignition but wouldn't open the trunk, glovebox or the remote trunk lever in the cabin.
