I was wondering what the most drop is on a 2nd gen camry was, and if that person scraped all the time. I got about a 1.75" and my tranny pan is about an inch and a half from the ground and i'm always scared its gonna get ripped off one day. but i wanted to cut off about another quarter inch or so to even it out with the back springs, so does any one know of/have any pics of a cam with a 2" drop??
sure going lower than 2 inches makes the car look cool and sh!t.. but think about it.. going that low will only create so many problems and stuff like that.. for example, tires wearing out badly due to bad alignment, shafts and other components also will wear out faster due to the strain that's put on them, you will probably hit stuff on the road easily and yes your oil pan will probably get some damage if you're not careful.. not being able to go up steep driveways and entrances cuz your bumper will hit the asphalt, etc.
if you can afford to replace and correct things like this.. then fine it's your money.. but if you're not rich.. then you should think about it twice.
well, what ren said....but even more importanatly, I hope you have some really stiff aftermarket struts to go with those springs.....
cuz if not....you're gonna bottomout sooner or later, and if you do while going fast enough.....well....the car can potentially be written off as a total loss....and i'm not sure if insurance covers stupidity....
but either wayz...good luck with the drop...

i've had a 2.5" drop for over a year and havn't had a problem......
How did you get your 2.5" drop? Did you get some lowering springs and cut those? Or did you just cut the stock factory springs?
modified sprint springs
If by modified you mean cut off.. good luck.. cutting off pieces of your springs only makes your springs less rigid and more prone to sagging and failing.. you might be ok now.. but eventually you will notice the diff.
I met a very cool guy today who has an 1991 LS400 (I think) and he clamped down his factory springs, he says it's still a really comfortable ride. The car has about a 2.something" I'd say at least a 2.6"

they arn't cut buddy
i don't know what they did........but its a lil lower then sprint is normally
sprints are around or a little over 2" the way they are, mine are almost 2.5..........not much diff then normal sprints
If you heat the spring while it is on the car with a torch that will lower the car. But any powder coating will be toasted and it is also hard to make every spring react the same.
I cut the intrax springs to lower my 91 4cyl [195/70-15]. 1 1/2 turns off front and 1 3/4 turns off rear. I only contact the ground sometimes when going over speed bumps. The part of the car that usually hits is my body, just aft of the front wheels. The middle of the body (underside) has been scraped only three of four times (I try to be very observant of road geography so it helps). I need to lower the rear a bit more still, maybe ill add some more weight, I'd rather not cut anymore of the spring off.

I was wondering if you could do a little research and tell me how they did that modification, because I know well that a 1.8" or 1.75" drop that the sprint springs give, is not a reasonably height to still be driving on. I've seen a few dropped Camry's and 1.75" is damn there near nothing.
After my Intrax springs settled they were just shy of two inches. The back tires look fine and sit right on the wheel well, but there is a gap up front. I have 17's so the gap would probably be even better with bigger rims. I'm not rich so that's why I don't have JIC coilovers.
