wouldnt u have white smoke if u had coolant mixing with the oil ?
no. there isnt supposed to be oil in the combustion chamber, this is what the 3rd piston ring is for (or 2nd in 2 ring jobbies) its to scrape the oil so it is NOT going to burn.
what part of water+oil=burn anyway? =)
white smoke if you had water in the combustion chambers, blue for oil.
but there might be a leak between the oil and water passages somewhere not into the chambers themselves.

Does it get foamy like Capuchino at the top of your Radiator CAP?
If so I would recomend also checking you Engine oil, IF you engine oil is Foamy like your Radiator Cap then you have a problem
IF Engine oil is ok then mostlikey The oil cooling lines form your tranny are broken from inside your Radiator and your spilling Tranny oil in your cooling system.
Take care of this quick or else you can damage your transmission.

^^^ if you just drained the radiator, there was still coolant in the engine, and after driving a while, you are mixing the new coolant and the old brownish = brownish
i ran the engine until it was at operating temp with the heater on and rad cap off, then i drained it and flushed with water. doesnt that get all of it out? ill try to do another flush and drain both the rad and engine block next time i guess.
I just came across your thread and wanted to let you know that this is somewhat normal. I flushed out the system (really flushed) in our camry and within a few days it was brown again. Just the other day, I cleaned out the resivoir and refilled with fluid, turned brown within a few days. Dunno why it does this, but I doubt its your headgasket.
