3rd Generation Camry Turned Monster Truck

I have a '95 1MZ-FE.

A year or so ago I had my exhaust redone by a mechanic. He did a fairly good job except for the fact that he didnt torque the nuts that secure the front exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold correctly. Now I am left with a torched gasket and a car that sounds like a monster truck, not to mention the wonderful smell of exhaust in the cabin.

Right now there is a new gasket installed and the front exhaust pipe is clamped to the manifold.

I have tried numerous nuts to secure the front exhaust pipe to the manifold...i.e. different thread spacings, but none seem to go on easily/stay on.

Does anyone know specifications for these nuts?

YES I would check the nuts securing the rear exhaust to the other manifold (since they are the same) but I am away at school and there is no way for me to do that.

and YES I have searched, I am no noob to this site.

Thanks in advance.

All I can suggest is (if no one can give the answer) to go to the junkyard, look at the size, measure if you can, and buy a clean new one from AutoZone. They sell all sized nuts and bolts there.

Thumbs up

Good idea, I forgot about the junk yard, I dont think i would have any problems if I were to grab some used ones. Hopefully the threads on the bolts arent crossthreaded.

Any other replies would be greatly appreciated.

ummm....just to say...for something quite this important, it wouldn't be too big of a rip-off to just swing by a toyotat dealership and have them get you the nuts

is the front exhaust hanger connected?

yes the front exhaust hanger is connected.

PROBLEM SOLVED... My brother wrecked his 96 v6 the other day so I am just going to grab the nuts from that, as well as his brand new rotors, back seat and anything else I can salvage.

Thanks for all the quick replies.
