Help! scratches on shiny new muffler

yesterday i had all the boys in the car and when i went up a driveway i scratched the bottom part of the muffler tip. the muffler is kind of chromey, so what i was thinking of was sanding the gouging back till its smooth, then polishing it to a finish like the rest of the muffler. has anyone done this before? what products should i use? or is there a better way?

i guess you can just sand it down if you're worried that much.
for a metal polish use autosol. get it at canadian tire for like 6 bucks.
let's get some pics of your car

LOL get it at canadian tire.. LOL I guess you failed to notice he's in australia!

dood.. eventually that muffler will look like crap anyways.. don't worry about one scratch.. it just adds more character to the look of your car.

Mines all f*cked up. The bottom is scratched and the top has a dent in it from being pushed up against the bumper.

I don't worry about it cos you can't see it unless you look right at it.

Start off with sandpaper. You want to go up to like 1500 - 2000 wet/dry sandpaper.

Then to really polish it out use a air die grinder with a fine polishing pad.

After that use metal polish and it should be bling bling.

LOL! i don't think they have them 'down under', but i'll be sure to find something similar. yeah i'm not too worried about it, just i saved up for quite a while the buy the thing than a few weeks later have it scratched. the way i figure once i lower the car its going to get scratched even more. Thanks for the responses -if i do decide to polish it out now i'll know what to do.
