Transmission Swap Similarities

Well, I was reading Ratko's Transmission Swap page for his V6 LE, and I was wondering... how many differences are there in swapping the tranny into an I4?

I want a manual transmission for my I4, and I want the E153 (based on reccomendations) and I was wondering how many differences there would be between the swap into an I4, and into a V6 Camry engine...

My torque/stall convertor gets stuck between gears sometimes on my auto and makes a buzz, and I'm sick of it and I also plan to turbo it and the usual stuff so I want the better tranny. I take it the E153 is the way to go.. even with the I4?

Thanks guys.

I just read a post by 97CamryMan in another thread:

"This swap is doable. The E153 transmission will bolt up to a 5SFE and the only problem is, a few bolt holes dont line up but you can skip them and its still fine."

How much of this is true?

My basic q is, how different would my parts have to be from the ones Ratko used, for example?

Just trying to collate the info for an I4 in one place before I begin my quest.

Here's something else I just read, couldn't be bothered finding out who by (sorry!):

"hay iam in the proses off swaping one to a 5speed its hard i putt 3.00 trany on my 2.2 all new axales modeis to the carer baring new spendals i got to put more axal in and don if you try have fun"

Um... what the hell does that mean? Translations?

Um, new axel models to the centre bearing, new spindles, put more axels in, and don't if you try?

Another thing I just read, someone saying that they can use the front axel off a V6 camry... so if I can find a front Axel and E153 off a V6 and chuck them into my I4, am I starting to look in the right direction?

From a guide by Zoni, listing the parts needed to swap the Tranny AND engine to a 3sgte...

"for a 3sgte i4 turbo swap + manual tranny, you need...
-motor, 3sgte
-uncut wiring harness, 3sgte
-ecu, 3sgte
-igniter, 3sgte
-map sensor, 3sgte
-tranny, 1mz
-clutch, 3sgte
-flywheel, 3sgte
-release bearing, either
-shifter assembly, 1mz
-cables, 1mz
-center console&shift boot (if you want to do it right), 1mz
-clutch pedal
-brake pedal
-master cylinder
-clutch line
-slave cylinder should be included with the tranny.
-axles, 1mz
-hubs, 1mz
-calipers, 1mz
-rotors, 1mz
-motor mounts from the 5sfe work!
-ps pump, a/c pump, alternator from the 5sfe work!!!!
-misc parts, only a few
-maintainance parts (oil filter, spark plugs, all fluids)"

Okay, I'm dumb. (sorry for trying to collate all this info in one place!)

So... I think that is a good list of parts to start with. Taking out the fact I am not putting a 3sgte in... What would I need? What don't I need?

I'll shut up for a while and let someone a lot smarter than me answer, and hopefully not make too much fun!
