idle speed

what is the correct idle speed for the 97 camry? the hanes manual doesn't list it. do any of you know how to adjust the idle speed? help please!

I think when you first start the car on a cold day, it will be around 1300 rpm's. On a moderate day, it will be at about 1000 rpms. After you have warmed up the engine, the RPM's should go down to 600.

600 is too low.. most cars is about 750 for manual transmissions, and I think it was either 700 or 800 for auto.

I'd hope that your idle speed would be 0 km/h

But if you are talking about the idle engine RPMs, then I would say that about 750 - 850 is normal. If you have a lighter/smaller crank pulley then you might be a little lower.
