3rd Generation need help! something is broken!

i was looking under the hood of my car today just to see how evreything was and i found something that is broken. please help me determine what this is form the pic. thanks!

remove the excess/broken end from the tube and just plug it back up =)

it just plug it back if it fell out.

it is actually calle TVV according to the repair manual taht is stickied at the top of the page. it is an emissions vacuum valve that works off of temperature. One of the two hoses goes to the charcoal canister and it looks like the other goes to the throttle body or something along those lines.

That being said it doesnt look like it is broken though. It looks more like one of the vacuum lines has just been pulled off. You should try pushing the hose back onto it. If that doesnt work then it is off to the junk yard or dealer. If it is jsut the hose that is the problem, like it has worn out and split you can go to autozone and buy some kind of connector and get a short piece of vacuum hose and attach it back that way.

thats what i ended up doing, although it feels as if it could come off fairly easily, i just have to see.

can you pick these up at auto zone or any place like that?

Cutting the excess broken end off is easyier said that done. These things (the BVSV i believe) are sooo brittle. One of mine is broken off completely at the base...no way to fix for me but to buy a new one! I don't know how critical it is, seemed to make no difference on mine.

Yes they are very brittle. The purpose is to burn the excess fumes from the canister.

the top isnt cracked, just one of ther green pieces that stick out for teh hose to stick onto is broken off. but there is bare some of it still sticking out so i was able to stick the hose back onto it but it doent have that great or a connection.
