4th Generation **Guys who did Indiglo Guage swaps...**

I was taking off my stock guages but I'm stuck.

I removed the two little mini screws on the face of the tach guage but The Needle and cap are in the way for the guage face to come off. I pulled it gently , then a little bit more harder but it didn't come off.

I know many here did their Indiglo guage swaps. I dont wanna break the needle but do i have to yank the sucker off? Am I missing something here??

Some people say you don't have to, apparently it goes over them. I did take mine off (painted them also) and I used an IC extractor tool (for electronics). Just gripped it and pulled it off. They are tight, but yeah, a press fit.

Grab a pair of needle nose pliers put them in on an angle and pull up. Its going to be a bit@# trying to get the needles right. The easiest way is to worm up the car put the temp needle in the middle, get a full tank of gas, idle rpm when worm is like 625 rpm and if its an i4 3000 rpm is like 80 mph. Its going to take some time to get all these adjustments right. But it looks awsome.

Needle nose pliers won't work unless the needle is loose enough. Typically there pressed on tight, and using pliers destroys the edges if your not careful. A bit of a risk. Hence why the use of something that bends underneath the base is better, so your applying pressure to the bottom surface vertically, instead of the sides.

One of these:

Use a dinner fork, with the speedo shaft in the tines of the fork, lever gently to pop the needle off the shaft.

^^^ Mine too, 00 Solara but same idea, reverse gauges with silver face are overlayed over original guages with no glue because original guages have screws(you can just make them out). Only cutout is for odometer, warning symbols are imprinted on reverse guages, sweet. Did have to manually cut out small hole for security light on tach. Had to light guages(warning lights) before re-installing cluster to make sure warning light symbols and numbers, etc. lined up exactly. Picture doesn't do it justice, even the wife liked it and she is DAMN hard to please...don't tell her I said that...

the gauge (the new one) should be a little flexible, also the needle too. Just try to slide them in, of course move the needle to the North direction so it slides in easier.
