3rd Generation Wich flex pipe should i use?

I need to replace my flex pipe. Which one should I use? I have a 94 i4. I am thinking number 10246 is what I need for my application. Any downside to using a regular steel pipe in place of the flex? If not I will just get a straight piece welded on and not bother with this one.

IIRC, the flex pipe is needed because of engine movement, without it, I would imagine it would tear the exaust system apart. As to the correct size, I would have to check the FSM. Seems this part is a weak point because of it's flexing (stating the obvious).

Yeah you probably dont want to replace it with a straight pipe. You will get much more vibration than you already do and every time you accelrate and the enginemoves it could over tiem break quicker than the flex pipe did or would.

instead of running with no flex, just run without the whole exhaust so theres no chance of something breaking =)

no idea sorry, its gonna be welded on anyway so as long as its only as long or a bit shorter then the current one you should be able to get away with cutting th e old one out and welding the new one in.

94 Camry I4: IIRC, stock exhaust diameter is 2", don't know the length of the flex pipe...

I am in the same situation and just went thru this. I cannot find any answer as to which flexpipe section to buy.

I took the car in to a local muffler shop, and they wanted $125 to weld one in there.

Looked online and found an entire downpipe for around $90 shipped + 5 for gaskets.
It's going in later this week, together with new engine mounts.

If you can find a muffler shop that won't rape your wallet, go for it.

I just went through the same situation. I found a replacement flexpipe at a Midas Muffler shop for about $50. They flared the ends to fit my existing pipe (just under 2") and I welded it in. Check with your local muffler shops. The prices I found ranged from about $50 - $100. Just for fun, I called my local Toyota dealer - they wanted over $700 for the complete unit and didn't have a replacement flex section. That was my entertainment for the day!
