Day Two.....

Today was a little better than yesterday. I got up and started working on my car. I removed the strut bar and proceeded to change out the the spark plugs and ignition wires, both NGK, which is what the guy at the auto parts place said was OEM. Well the spark plugs in there were Denso iridium plugs and they did not look good. :o They had a white and greenish frosty-like coating on them. And the ignition wire were sumitomo? and one of the had this weird brown stuff melted onto it. Strange. This was a little time consuming but not too hard. If you plan to do this yourself wou'll need a six inch extention for your wrench, I used a five inch and it was rubbing. :-? Also buy some anti-seize compound and dielectric grease. Put the anti-seize compound on the threads of the plugs and the dielectric grease inside the ignition boot. I'd suggest going in order from 4 to 1. It really doesn't matter though. I'd also suggest buying a torque wrench. The plugs (Laser Welded Platinum) cost me over $10 a piece so I didn't want to ruin them. My friend did his with a regular ratchet and tightened one too hard and had to had take it too the dealer to get it removed. It's a good investment anyways... i guess mine was only $20.

Moving on... after I finished that I tried to replace the PVC valve. Easy enough I thought. Nope, the hose is stuck fast too it. I tried prying the two apart but the hose started to tear so I gave up on that one and went back to trying to loosen the fuel filter. I couldn't budge that thing to save my life. So I decided to just take to a shop tomorrow morning to replace the fuel filter and PVC valve. I've got to go to work and I don't want to leak any fuel. So I get all my stuff together and go to take a test drive and guess what my battery is dead... completely dead. Then my car wouldn't even turn over when I tried to jump it because my alarm fail-safe. So I fiddled with the alarm and finally got the car jumped and drove it around to recharge the battery and test to see if the engine was going to blow up. Nope it actually ran really well. It seems a little more responsive when accelerating which is always cool. Well I guess that's all for today... I need to get something to eat and take a shower. All and all today was good and I learned alot this weekend. Not everything worked out but that never stopped me before

They came pre-gapped, but I checked them to be safe... the ones I took out however had a huge gap... it was strange.

heh...you think that's tough?

you should take a look at the positioning of the plugs on the 6's....two plugs are behind the engine.....get ripped up but good going for those things..... :
