4th Generation LED side mirror

I'd love to have some LED side mirror turn signals for my gen 4. I think it looks pretty cool and improves safety too

So does anyone know what kind of procedures I need to take to install it? I have power mirrors and component(?) speakers in that area.

If I get something like this: http://images.auctionworks.com/hi/67...ellow_glow.JPG

Do I need to drill holes for the wires to run thru, remove my mirror in order to install it?

Any help greatly appreciated.

R u installing them on the front of the mirror or on the side? Where r u asking if you need to drill holes? Its just not going to look right unless you fiberglassed them into the mirror housing and thats more work than its worth.

it will only look good if you mold it into the side mirrors, otherwise, it isn't any better than those ones that you stick on with double sided tape

and I presume that you will have to drill a hole to run the wire to install it properly

So u guys think it won't look good unless it's molded into the mirror?
http://images.auctionworks.com/hi/67...yellow_car.JPG

I don't know, I don't think it's too bad. I plan to put it around the same area as that pic. Is there an easy way to install it without drilling holes?

^ that looks horrible. Thats going to be the first thing your eyes are drawn towards when you look at the car.

You're better off trying to fit a mercedes or scion mirror with turn signals.

The only way to install them without drilling would be to run the wires either under the hood or more likely to the dash, if its into the dash you would either have them going into the windows or you would have to clost the door on them which wouldnt last long and would look really ghetto... if you have your heart set on those i suggest putting them on the bottom of the mirror housing, it would be much less obnoxious and you would probably still be able to see them from in front of the car. If you're going to do it, do it right, mold them on or buy housings with them built in.

^Same thing i was thinking, put it at the bottom that way it'll be out of sight but still serving the purpose.

I would like to.......

put led signals on my mirrors but on the leading edge and/or by the mirrore itself. I would say buy your own stuff and make your own array of LEDs. I would even try to mount them behind the glass.

Any ideas on this application?

I would take some picts and ellaborate if my main PC was up.

yea, I was starting to think about making my own customized LED turn signals. What do you guys mean by, "ghetto"? I prolly don't want that look, but can someone explain to me what it means?

I was thinking of drilling holes in the mirror and then placing a horizontal line of leds into the mirror, weld the leds together and run wiring all from the inside of the mirror. Similar to what SnakeyeS did with his ash tray.

That was my personal idea, but i don't mind sharing as long as you don't stick those things on your mirror... Final desicion is yours, but...
