Mine wasn't black but mine had bouble sided tape, plus some snap/ peg things that went into the doors. So You'll have to weld those up, then fill the indentation that pulling of the impact molding leaves.

What is that thing called? I know what you are talking about, but just wondering what it is called officially. Yes, there are some snap clip and some cheapo tape, as mentioned above.

plastic mouldings?

and as grayguy said- there's an indented spot in the doors for the mouldings, so if you remove it, it won't be flat, and there will be peg holes- in short, if you want to shave them, you'll have to do some major body work

Double sided tape and has 'pegs' to clips in which really dont work. Just work a single part off with a flat tip then you can peel the whole thing off. Yeah its a lotta work. I finally finished my completely after I started it back in June. I also took the plastic ones off at the bottom of the doors. My only mistake was completely filling in the door gaurds with bondo. The ones on the bottom of the door was a different case and was done properly

Mine are filled with fiberglass body filler. The Driver's door has developed a crack, but that is due to the fact that some ass-bag doored the hell out of it.

One thing to think about before doing this mod is, when your done you will not have any thing to prevent door dinges. My car has gotten several dings in the last 7 months...

I got 3 HARD door dents along with their paint on my car in a week. I swear I'm gonna start putting paint stripper in my car for the next motherfucker who does it.
Personally though, I'd fill it in. It looks so much nicer afterwards
