all i have to say is watch out for this member named "HAWKEYE-SE"
he will rant and rave about this.
those are two good websites above!
its all about how much you wanna spend
He has good reason to rant and rave. HID kits without HID projectors look terrible, and have a horrible light dispersal pattern. On top of that, you're going to glare at everyone on the road, and you risk getting pulled over for that. HID kits without projectors are not D.O.T. legal.

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.

YEAH! Damn him and his knowledge and information. Someone better ban that fucking guy for being correct.
Not to mention I have first hand experience with both retros and plug and play kits IN a camry. I can say from first hand experience, that HID kits suck. Period. Until you retrofit, you are fighting with one hand tied behind your back.
The answer to the question of a good HID kit = there isn't one.

Correct on all counts, except the last one. Technically a retrofit is just as illegal as a plug-and-play kit, but a retro will not draw the wrong kind of attention because it is actually functional. Same applies to putting a kit into a halogen projector.

pish posh... Plug'n'Play HID kits are the shiznit!!! They be Jay-Dee-Em Y0!!! I put them in my Jay-Dee-Em 4-door Scepter and go DORIFTO on them Initial D mountain roadzzzz!!! They bl1nd all oncoming drivers so that they drive off the road, leaving me all the space I need for my ultra cool 25mph e-brake drifts and "wheel in the gutter" manuever!!!
This Hawkeye guy ain't know what he's talkin' about. He ain't Jay-Dee-Em like the rest of us who have blue 8000K or violet 12000K bulb. Who cares if those temperatures have decreased light, the blue/purple look is so damn JAY-DEE-EM!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok I'm done.

Anywayz....Im wishin i did some more researche before i opend up my headlights and painted them....i coulda done that projector conversion ive seen so many camry owners do....problem is i really didnt know how and what projectors to buy.
i have a question.....if you get an HID kit, i know its best to get projectors to go along with it....but what if you just get the kit alone...how bad can it get??
any camry owners out there with just a HID kit with no projectors??

This bad. When I had a kit in my 5.5 it was not quite as terrible, but you definately get crazy hot spots, and the eyebrow type glare, not to mention a narrow pattern. Plus it is not any brighter than stock because you losing so much light because the reflector was not designed to properly use the lumens.
Unfortunately, I never took any pics of my beam pattern with the kit... I didn't take pics mainly because it is fucking embarassing to drive a car with such a miserable "upgrade."

When it comes to projectors what type of car do you get the Donor projector housing from? Someone mentioned a BMW works well. I was thinking maybe Lexus would be more compatible.
