I am not a fan of cork gaskets. Does anyone make a good qaulity rubber or other tranny pan gasket? This is for a 94' Camry XLE 1mf-ze with 146,000 miles.........What does the one from the dealer look like? How about for the oil pan? I have heard most just use silicone. What type of silicone and does it hold up to synthetic oil? On the average, or does anoyne know about how long that silicone will last? To my knowledge I do not think my pan has ever been dropped, it looks to me like I have a small amount of seapage around it. In the past I have not had much luck with silicone. It always seems to leak after a short while......How long do you let it sit/cure before refilling?
Thanks,
Jason

The 94 camry uses a cork trans pan gasket. pn 35168-32010 for 4cyl., 35168-33030 for the v6. The filter is a metal mesh, never has to be replaced (unless its damaged), just clean it out with brake cleaner.
Well I already bought a WIX filter last week, part# 58888. And it was not mesh. It is an enclosed filter with inlet and outlet ports. I am getting ready to drop the drain and drop in the next hour.....Will check it out. Trying to track down a fuel filter now........

trans pan is a cork gasket and the engine oil pan is silicone. From the factory it is a greay silicone. I dont know if you can buy the gray silicone at parts stores. You should be able to go with the black as long as it is a high temp. as for it standing up to synthetic oil it shouldn't be a problem.
and yes 88LE the 1MZ does have two oil pnas if you want to call it that. it has a metal pan then an aluminum casing that is atached to the main block. all it really does is lower the crank case I guess you could say.

Toyota oil pan silicone pn 00295-00103. That piece of aluminum is called a siffener plate.
Just changed the fluid and "stifner"..........And of course I was reminded why I hate cork gaskets.......It leaks as usual........It seems no matter how much I clean the mateing surfaces it always leaks..........

New to the forum and looking for the expertise from fellow members.
Have a 99 Camry V6 with oil leaking from the oil pan ( guess it is the #2 oil pan according to the previous Autozone link to the manual). I bought the seal packaging from the dealer and was wondering if I could just remove the 10 bolts and two nuts and remove the pan this way without removing the exhaust pipe and bracket? Also the manual suggests to use a special tool to pry off the pan, what other tool can I use instead of the SST? Any suggestion on solvent for cleaning the pan with?

Maybe.
From previous experience, its easier to remove the oil pan if the exhaust is also removed.

Metal putty knife.

I like to use brake parts cleaner. Carb cleaner also works well.
