Drv side axle shaft removal

HELP!! This has always been a fairly simple chore, removing and replacing the axle shafts that is. This time I cannot seem to get the snap ring to pop and release the shaft. I have rotated the shaft and applied pressure at 3 different spots and still can't get the thing to budge. Any suggestions/ideas?? Could it be this is going to be real trouble?? Need to go to work and would like to get it fixed rather than just put it back to gether. Thanks

the easiest way i do it:

1. Go to autozone and ask them if you can rent a slide hammer and FWD axel puller (attachment looks like a C)

2. Disconnect the tie rod from the hub assembly (you might want to buy a new cotter pin)

3. Tie off the hub assembly as far as you can get it.

4. slip "C" around the back of the inner CV joint and beat the hell out of it.

also dont forget to buy a new differential seal.
