4th Generation tire wheel combo = comfort

What I want to know is what is the best wheel size and tire size combo to have on a gen4 that gives a nice look and yet good comfort ride?

well, all you can really do is pick one or the other- comfort or looks

but for a medium you can go with 16" rims and softer all-season tires- personally though, I think that'd be a waste of money - 16s will just look stockish anyway, and they're too small to really look good on a car the size of the camry

yeah, i'm thinking 17 or 18s. I just think 18's are bigger then i'd like. What concerns me is the ride quality on the 18's. I had 205/40s on some 17 wheels and that was a rough ride. I know tire rack suggest 215/45 on 17's but i don't want that same crapy ride. I've checked around on some other cars and scion and mercedes use 215/45 and 225/45.

That seems better just not much. Anyone riding on 205/50s or 215/50s?

I have 16s with Falken ZE-512 205/60R16 tires. It doesn't seem to ride any different than when it had the stock 205/65R15 tires, but it feels much better at high-speed lane changes.

17s are probably what you want.

you gotta define nice look.

new shocks and a quality touring 215/60R15's will give you a stupidly smooth ride.

and yes, lots of people run 215/50 - 215/45 is actually a little bit undersized- but it's a more commonly available size

some of us even run 225/45, my winters are this size

and if you want comfort, you'll have to stay far away from 18s

but if you get 17s, you'll have to lower you car as well, and then the ride isn't even close to comfortable anymore- really, once you go to the 17s, it isn't anymore already

heres another thing to try... sound deaden your whole undercarraige and wheel wells. the reduced road noise will give a placebo effect of the car being more comfortable.

I had 17's before, the ride quality depends on your tires really. I've tried three brands kumo's, dunlop..but my yokahama's were the best on ride quality. But when i went back to 16's (tires are cheaper) the ride quality improved..and thats what i have on both my cars.
