My windscreen is squeaking when I put my wipers on. It doesn't matter how much water (rain ) falling onto.
The car is Camry Altise (Aussie) late 2004. It is still under new car warranty and I have mentioned this problem to the Toyota mechanic when I was doing maintenance service and I was told that Toyota's windscreen is coated with some sort of film when it is out from the factory and when the film is somehow wearing away it will cause the noise when wipers are on. Unfortunately I was also told that Toyota has not come up yet with a solution. I hardly could believe that. Is it really because of the film coating that is wearing out?
Is there anyone here ever experienced the same problem? Please share if you know something that may solve my problem. I check the wiper itself and they are fine.
Thanks.

I don't think your problem is limited to your model. Every Toyota I've had gave this problem at one point or another, and I've found that the semi-metallic wiper blades cause the problem. Try shopping-around for another type of wiper blade, it may just fix your problem.

Thanks for your replies. It is good to hear that it is unlikely the windscreen itself that causes the problem. In this case, I suppose you won't suggest me to get a pair of original wipers from Toyota then. Wondering why they make such a troublesome wipers?
If there is anyone else has different opinion or experiences I would like to hear. Otherwise I will shop around for wipers blade then.
Get Denso viper blades solved the same problem for me, i used bosch viper
blades before and they where realy noisy hell!
Like Zandro said, get Denso blades. Denso makes a lot of parts for Toyota (I think they may be a subsidiary of Toyota, actually), and they're all top-notch. My guess is the blades your car came with were bottom-of-the-line to save the dealership $$.

If the rubber inserts themselves are not ripped, before doing anything else, wipe down the rubber inserts with a paper towel or cloth soaked in alcohol or even windshield washer fluid. Alcohol works best. Chances are the inserts are just dirty and soaked with oil from the rode grime that gets tossed up by vehicles in front of you when you are driving in the rain. I know this sounds silly but give it a try.
the chattering and sqeaking is caused by the wipers getting a permanent bend in them being in the off position. since the windshield is curved, the bends in the wipers dont match the curve of the windshield when they swipe across. get new inserts.
I have tried to clean the windscreen but it wouldn't solve the problem. I will try to clean the wiper with alcohol or otherwise I think I will buy a Denso blade.
Someone suggested to use car wax to clean my windscreen? Won't that do any harm to the windscreen?
in my experience the best wipers to put on Toyotas are Toyota replacements. WHen I was at the dealer I worked for we had people coming constantly complaining of wiper noise. We would either put new inserts in or have to replace hte entire blade if they had aftermarket. After doing this they did not have any problems with them until time to replace again. Normally you will need to replace your wipers about twice a year depending on weather conditions in your area. I know here in Middle Tennessee that is the case anyway.

You could do the wax thing, but it has two drawbacks: 1) At highway speed the blades tend to lift off the glass more easily, causing chattering; 2) The blades seem to deteriorate more quickly.
I use RainX brand fluid, works like a charm (and seems to extend the life of my wiper blades, too--120,000km on this set so far).
