3rd Generation Problems with my HIDs

Hey toyota fans,
I just got a set of 9006 and 9005 HIDs for my 1994 camry. I installed both the sets perfectly, but they are not working properly. When I turn the car on, the lights are not that bright as supposed to when i demoed them with only one side on (battery power problem). And it gets worse when i turn on the highbeams. The left side completely suts off and only the right side lights are on (and brighter). I don't know what the problem is, my dad said it cannot be the battery because its only three years old. Is it the circuitry? Is the car too old? I reall don't know. SOME ONE PLEASE HELP ME. thanks!

some more information would be helpful

what battery are you running
what kind of HID kit is it
who makes it
who wired it up
did you check your fuses and relays etc.

but really what kit and where installed would help... i know my HID's shut off if my battery gets very low... but then again my car doesn't start either! they are a low bean CATZ set and i have an optima yellow top

are they just HID bulbs? what's the wattage on them? maybe it's too much for the stock harness to handle.

If you got the 'HID' xenon bulbs with ~100watts more than likely your harnesses cannot handle it. And if you continue to run them you will melt your harneses..... thats not a good thing..

If you have a real HID kit and stuff sorry i cant really help you out.

Why would you get high beam HIDs? HID bulbs can't be flashed like normal halogens.

bear in mind that the harness and housing wasnt designed for true HIDs. if youve got real HIDs and not imitation HIDs you could be really screwing stuff up.

a friend of mine put brighter halogens in his mustang and had to replace the connector every 2 months because it would melt. HIDs are a completely difference concept.

um....two hid kits eh? dude you should first read about the HID system first before you do that. check the voltage spike when a hid system starts, its near double that of a regular bulb, and around 15-17v I think. Adding to this for a hid bulb to completely turn on, it takes about 10secs for the salts to burn, so using them as high beams and is not useful, not to mention it will kill the life of your bulb, and just your electrical system a test of their strength. To this you'll also need a GOOD hid harmness AND relay! the harness that comes with most aftermarkey kits suck period. Make you own, its easy. Good luck but IMHO I think its a bad idea, might as well put HID in the fogs too!

Well yes and no.

If you dont get projectors the beam will scatter everywhere and blind people.

If you DO get projectors the beam will be neat and uniform.

There is a whole other disccusion on this IN THIS FORUM....its the GEN5 thread on H.I.D's go check it out for photos
