Alarm issues...Go Figure

Hey guys,

Since im new to the camry world i need help!! ok heres the deal, i replaced to starter which requires disconnecting the battery. Since this isnt my car i didnt know that it had a alarm installed. the owner then tells me while the alarm is going off that the remotes were lost and they never used the alarm. Like most cars i thjought when i hook the battery up the alarm will go off and all i need to do is unlock the doors manually. Wrong. I tried turning the key from on to Acc. back to on, and still the alram goes off. I need to know how the hell to disable this thing. They couldnt even tell me if it was a factory alarm or a after maket. Under the dash there is a audivox control box that has the sensitivity setting on for shock control.

Does any one know how i can disable this so i can start the car?

Thank You

Brian

Look for a switch underneath the drivers side dash or near the kick panel.

Turn the key to ACC or ON and tap/flip the switch. This usually disables the alarm.

If what the person above me said doesnt work, you may have an alarm like mine... I have a factory securikey+/audiovox alarm. To the left of the steering wheel you have the dimmer for the dash lights. There may or may not be a little red security light. On mine personally, you can push in the red light and disactivate the alarm, but some other camrys, its just a light i believe.

For future reference if someone else searches for this, the solution was what the first guy said to do. turn key from acc. to on and flipped the switch which was on this car was zip tied to the wiring harness tucked way up under the dash. Thank you for the responses.
