2nd Generation NA Tuning a 3s-fe

Hi all,

I did a search and couldn't find any info. I have a stock 3s-fe in pretty good condition and wanted to up the HP a little.

Please note i don't want to do an engine swap :P lol

I was going to get extractors/2.5inch pipe/hi-flow cat for my exhurst. But didn't know what i could do to the enternals or intake, other than upgrading the stock cai

The other thing i was thinking was changing the timing and getting a upgrade for the ecu.

One other thing i want to keep my a/c it gets damn hot here in oz.

If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly apprechiated

You could put in a Megasquirt ECU, but that requires a some knowledge about
how the 3S-FE engine works

drop in a 3s-ge =)

if you look around, it wont cost anymore then quality intake/exhaust/ecu mods, and in the end you still make more power, not to mention that youll be running into tthe redzone of ya tacho so when mates are in the car you can show off

i know you said a swap wasnt an option but you should consider it. gen2+3sge = faster then any newer camry, period. (not to mention quicker then v6 falcodores and you can also beat older v8,s and keep up with modifeid gen3 ls1 vt... list goes on.........)

gen2+3sgte > gen2+3sge

Anways, I would recommend that you just leave the engine alone. The little horsepower that you might be able to get out of it is not gonna be a really noticable difference. When you look at that and the cost of the aging 3sfe's, it would seem pretty practical that you just use the engine as long as you can, and then do an engine swap later down the line if you're serious about performance.
