Clear tail lights Vs. Red-clear tail lights! - Toyota Nation Forum : Toyota Car and Truck Forums

ok, as much of you allready know they make Altezza( or Lexus) style tail lights for allmost every toyota except for early camrys. I have a 96 camry and i'm debating weather i should get all clear tail lights or the red and clear. i have painted over the inner portions so if i got all clear, there would be no more red at all. I just don't want to run into any big issues with cops and stuff and i'd be changing them back to norms for inspection if i have to. Unless someone knows if they made Altezza styles or knows a shop that could custom them for a cheap price.

Don't get clears unless you want trouble from the cops...plus they are extremely hard to find now since they're discontinued. IMO, they're ugly and dangerous.

The red/clear tails are much nicer looking and aren't too expensive...about $150 US or so... try www.ctmotorsport.com

what henry said...the clear ones are FUgly.....the ones like what he made on his car are nice....I want to do it....but without screwing it up like he did....

well, a friend of myne baught the clears from this website autodynamic and i saw them on his car and they look pretty cool, only problem was he is using led bulbs, and the tail lights doesn't light up all the way, only about half during the day. The red and clears look cool, but i was hoping to go without red. i'm just wondering about cop horror storries and stuff. cause around here i see tons of like acords and civics and even this nice white supra with clears and as far as i know they get no problems. so that what i'm wondering. take a look at the pics of my car and see if the clears would look nice. plus they are $20 cheaper than red/clears![/url]

http://www.cardomain.com/id/chris1898 heres a old pic of my car with clear tails. I have painted the inner taillights to match the car since this pic and that made it look a lot better. As far as cops go i only got stoped once in a years time and didn't get a ticket. The only reason he even stoped me is because the red paint had started to burn of the bulbs and my brake lights were showing up almost totally clear.

well i dont now where you intend on buying your clear tail lights, but if you are thinking form autodynamic you may want to start looking elseware because they still have the picture of them in there website but you cant purchuse them any more, i now i have tryed twice and been unsuccessful. the first time i tryed was about 1 1/2 years ago. The secound was because i saw that they were still posted on the website and figured that they must have started selling them again or they would have taken them off but, i was wrong. Pretty stupid to me that they would still have them on there to this day if they cant sell them.

IMO, spend the extra $20 to get the red/clear tails. The only good reason to get the clear tails would be for show use if you plan on customizing it. But it's your money, your car and your choice. Good luck.

you might of caught them on a bad week. i know they still got it cause so far i don't know anyone else that sells them. why pull out a perfectly good product.

they are definately not out of them cause my friend ordered from them 2 months ago.

well tell ya what i will send them an email asking and we will see what they say. They say they dont sell them anymore because they are illegal in the states. As far as i know the only place that you can use such tail lights is for off road use.
