I believe the threading can be different depending on model. Also, I've seen ones that slide on and you pop in a pin, rather than screw in. I've never tried swapping a honda knob to a toyota, though, so I may be totally wrong.

You could always superglue it in place if it doesn't fit right

I'm pretty sure they're universal. Well, at least for imports.

most aftermarket knobs are universal, however beware of threaded aftermarket knobs because they are more specific to manufacturer, since honda and toyota have different threads they are not interchangable.

razo and momo knobs are pretty much universal.

with your gen 3 youll want a know that has a 35mm depth or else it will look funny cause the shifter wont go all the way down to the boot

and the thred # is 12mm but usually good shift knobs will come with 3 diff adapter anyways, its the depth youll want to make sure fits

wonton is right... i had a JDM type-r style shit knob and it looked like a testicle on a stick, and it was way too small for my palm so im using the TRD leather shift knob and im loving it.

Hah! Testicle on a stick, that's awesome.

As far as some of the generic aftermarket ones, be wary of the ones that aren't threaded and just have a lock screw that's supposed to keep it from moving. I speak from personal experience when I say that after awhile they work loose and can fly off when attempting to change gears. Almost got into an accident once because of that.
