They make very little good points, like I said in the other thread regarding this... they're comparing current(brand new) gen sonata to the 5 year old (last gen) camry. If they had done last gen Sonata, the video would've looked alot different... justlike if they compare the 2007s of both cars...
I'm not saying it's not a nice car... but come on.. be fair
Hyundai has only been making cars since 1986. How many 86 Hyundais have you ever seen? How many 80's Toyotas have you seen?
Not to say the Hyundai isn't making great cars, they have had impressive build quality for a couple of years now.
The problem with image takes time to overcome. In the 1960's & 1970's, Honda motorcycles were dirt cheap (Brand new 1969 Honda 750 was $700 or $800) but they were the highest quality bikes out there, as Harley was junk then(still is). The image has changed and I think the same thing will happen to Hyundai, eventually.
The sad thing is that unless you cross the $30K threshold you are guaranteed a big old pile of domestic poop.

really unfair comparison, Hyundai is getting better but i dont believe its up to toytoa's rank. Like they said, Hyundai just copies older generation cars, taking design from all makes of cars and putting them together
Totally unfair comparison, and the Hyundais are still junk.

one day though, hyundai will come out with a new design, high value, high class car and they will price it high. once they get some to buy it, then their image will really change..

i wouldn't say Hyndai's are junk, but the comparison was definitely skewed, everything leaned toward the sonata and i've never heard of either of those people or the show.
Could be just a couple of actors tauting the new sonota under the premise of a "comparison"
edit: And all the data they spewed were stuff you could get from either companies' booklets.

Attention Triumph GT6, i can relate to your theory about <30 k american cars = big pile of poop:
At work we had to diagnose this guy's car - 1999 Olds Cutlass V-6 it was (yes i know Olds is defunct), about 80k miles, and the engine had locked up because the pistons wouldnt move apparently. We pulled the spark plugs and there was WATER/ coolant in the cylinders. On diagnosing where the water came from, we removed the intake manifold on top and it was made of PLASTIC! I'm not kidding, this engine had a plastic manifold! The cheapa piece of sh$t manifold had cracked in one of the (plastic) passages. And leaked coolant into the cylinders. And this on a supposed "high end" US made car. Bah! I'll keep my Camry. Sorry Detroit, you blew it with me!
