99 4-cyl idle air valve removal
Repost to say idle air valve instead of ISC -
I couldn't find anything in the archives specific to removing the idle air valve in a 99 4-cyl, and there's nothing in the Haynes manual either. I see the idle air valve as a black plastic device attached by two screws to an aluminum housing which is attached by 4 bolts to the bottom of the throttle body. The aluminum housing has [coolant?] hoses attached to it. Do I simply remove the idle air valve or is there more to it than that? Can I get a gasket separately vs part of a bigger kit?
Reason - idle stabilization isn't working as it should. 1 in 20 times it won't hold idle after sitting overnight. All the time it won't hold idle after being parked 2-10 hours. Warm restarts are no problem. When the idle doesn't hold I keep the pedal at 1200 rpm for 30-40 seconds and either the idle stbilization kicks is or it idles at 500 or some low rpm but doesn't quit. Cleaning the throttle body didn't help.
Thanks,
Sixto
