Gen5 Re-built Alternator

So my new system is drawing more than i thought it would (roughly 290 Amps RMS).

And i dont want a 2nd battery and before i go using this new system i dont wanna mess up my alternator. Will exessive current draw like that damage my alternator? Its a given that my Battery will die quickly but i dont wanna fry my whole charging system.

My friend said i could get the alternator rebuilt to a new Amerage, which would help alot compared to the stock 80A. Anyone know how much you can rebuild a Stock Toyota Alternator to?

Im hoping for 160A or better, my friend said with my engine (2AZ-FE) that may be impossible.

I googled High Output and High Current Alternators. And found few good results. One site looks promising but it seems they are offering only OEM Models.

Anyone know where i can get a High Output alternator for a 2003 Camry?

www.ohiogenerator.com custom built....mad expensive, and I am not really buying a 290amp draw....at least not in your car, maybe a dead short

Yea dude look at the fuse on the amp and thatll tell you more or less how much it draws(usally 1-5 amps less) You dont judge the amps by the amplifiers out put wattage.

Yes it can and may kill both alt and batt. It happened to my old car and it had a 120 amp alt. If you can get the 160 do get it. But make sure it makes enough juice at idle. Its rated at 160 at like 3500 rpm but it may only be like 30 amps at odle.

i had a civic and i had 3 ampz hooked up with 3 12in subz,,never had a problem,,or at least get a capacitor,,that will help...Dont worry,,its also worth getting a more better powersupply,,,or what u can do is,,get a red top battery which is reccomended for people who are hooking up high powered sound systemz,,It keeps the alternator alive and doesnt let ur battery die as easily
