MY way to nice power

After getting tired of waiting for a nice turbo or supercharger kit to appear on the market for the 5sfe and not wanting the hassle of building a custom one from a ct26 or the like, i have decided to get my available power from nitrous.

However, this will not just be a car with a bottle in the truck that i use to blast in 30hp.

I now plan on building my engine and fuel system to handle at least a 125 hp shot for at least a quarter mile or longer.

I will be upgrading pistons, rods, rings and the like to be stronger, along with a beefier fuel system.

The cool part is that i will be installing a fuel cell where my spare tire was located filled with high octane race fuel. Wired up to the right solenoid in time with my nitrous, i will be able to turn on the NOS and have the engine switch over to high octane fuel at the same time. The rest of the time i will be able to drive regular lower octane pump gas.

Let me know if i have left anyhting out or questions comments.

I should have it done by september.

hmmm.....so you're going to change the compression of your engine to run race fuel efficiently....then how are you going to run regular fuel on a regular basis without predetonation?

I think that the n2o is a good idea tho- I'd do it myself if I wasn't afraid of the popo searching my car

Don't get me wrong, when i say "regular" i mean 92 octane or so. But when i am using that much nitrous under high compression, i want a little more insurance against detonation. The fuel cell will just be a 8-11 gallon cell with 100 octane or so. That way i won't have to change anything to drastically and both fuel types will work in my engine no problem.

I will figure it out better when i talk to my tuner.

Actually the initial cost analysis puts it at about the cost some people here have spent on their custom turbo setups or less. Plus it is far more unique.

will that be worth it? having an extra fuel cell would add alot of weight to the back.. and 11 gallons lugging the back just sitting there until you actually decide to use n2o........ extra weight for small boost of power.

100octane isn't really racing fuel....

but regardless, hopefully you can figure it out and make it practical- good luck

Thanks for all the feedback, it helps.

AS to the fuel cell size, you are probably right about the size, so it is going to be 5 gallons or so max. That should last almost forever even if i was constantly hitting the bottle.

And 100 ocatne may not be "race fuel" like you say, but i figure it should be high enough octane to prevent detonation at the power i would be running.

The weight should be offset by the fact that i am stripping the interior down to the two front seats and the dash along with anything else i can pull of htat won't look to obvious.

As for toulene, i really don't have the experience to know about that, and living in the second highest meth county in the country i would be in jail in a week.

Keep the feedback coming.

Manual. It makes for much more fun driving. Plus i can uprgrade the clutch for more power and get a lighter flywheel for throttle response. Even stock the 5spd is a blast to drive!
