i doubt the Camry is gonna get more than 230HP considering the redesigned Sienna has the new 3.3L V6 with 230HP(official). And the new RX330 is getting the 230HP version as well.
Toyota is dumb for not keeping up in the HP war, even thought the cars will still sell..... More HP is needed. The new Accord has 240HP, and 250 with Premium fuel. Look at the Altima as well..... with 230 Hp for the Camry, the Mazda 6 is closest in HP.
Remember this 3.3l here is for the sienna and will be more for torque then peak hp.I think toyota will tweak the engine so it gives around 240hp and the same amount of torque. If toyota would just put a normal exhaust system on the dam car they would gain 10hp easy.
VVTI will not have any effect on a S/C or turbo they should be able to turbo it as long as the computer and injectors can supply enough juice.Since VVTI changes the valve opening duration this could actualy help for a forced induction engine.Back when I was tuning hondas I noticed that VTEC helped out with boost since it gave me more time to fill those cylinders and I could get more in.If you compare this engine to the Nissan vq3.5 it should be able to produce as much power if not more with proper tuning .You cant comapre a Toyota engine to these engines at this stage since power curves and actualy figures are not available yet.

i was just going by the fact that the curent sienna has had more hp than the camry for the past 2 yrs. 20+ hp in fact, so thats why i assumed te camry would still have less hp than the sienna..... but it would make sense that the sienna would have less hp. and more torque..... but why hasnt this been tru in the past?? Toyota is always behind its competitors when it comes to HP, so im not expecting too much when they put the 3.3L in it......
In the past the sienna has had more power but that is due to 2 things.
-Exhaust was much better flowing.
-it got VVTI near the end.
Now even when you comapre the Sienna version to he ES300 version 1mzfe you notice the Sienna had dual TB and that infact gave it much more power all over the powercurve.Since this engine is new and they probably did nothing special too it yet there is a good chance toyota will take all this power hunger into mind and give us a tuned version of the Sienna power plant. In the past the camry had the engine before the sienna so this time its the oposite and could lead to advancements over the last version.Im keeping up my hopes that this engine will have 240hp and 240ft-lbs .If you take the rest of the v6 powerplants they donot give as much power all over the curve as the 1mzfe does.

yea, the accord has 240/212 and 240/240 in camry would be nice. but i wont believe till i see it.
