Hi all, you all probibly know my 2005 Camry with the 2AZ-FE engine. Well today in my driveway i was free-reving it and herd some what of a pop or snap just shy of 6000 rpms. Afer it did that the rpms droped to 5000 and now if i rev it at 4000 and up it is unstady. Does anyone know what i did or broke? I was thinking maby my timeing-chain jumped a tooth. thanks an advance.

WIle driving it isnt that noticable. Seems to have lost some power, but if u were to rev it in nutral after 4000 or 5000 rpm it is unstady. like it like the rpms are jumping around.
Maybe piston ring or something like that. Seems like it may be loosing compression. Possibly cracked piston. Or, it could be something simple..but seeming you heard a "snap"..seems like it may be more mechanical/major.

Is it ok to drive it like this?? I dont want to do more damage than i have already caused. I
did you try driving it slowly at all, to see if anything was wrong with the engine. OR possibly your reeved it soo hard, and was amazed by such yota power that the exhaust threw out a fat flame that burst which tripped you out
Since you heard a snap, you probably cracked something. Check your exhaust, headers, valve cover, intake manifold, etc. for cracks. Why were you even revving up to 6000 anyway? By what logic can that possibly be any good for the car? Did you not think that MAYBE revving that high might cause some damage?

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.
your muffler bearings are bad, lamo if its still under warranty take it to the dealership and tell them what you hear but dont tell them you were revving it in neutral or park just tell them about the noise

And i didnt think it would hurt it because i flore it from a deadstop all the time and it goes in the 6000 range and does nothing to it. Maby w.e snapt or cracked just got tired from all of the stress?
