unknown warning light...

my friends 93 camry has a warning light on and we dont know what it is...

the icon is of a car with the rear lights flashing out...
basically the car with 3 lines on each side pointing out of the rear tail lights
and its orange..

his rear brake lights are fine, however his middle brake light doesnt work

is it just warning about the middle brake light? or is it something else?

thanks

either one of the brake lights is burnt out or one of the rear driving/parking lights is out. Does the light turn on as soon as youturn the lights on or only after you step on teh brake pedal. If after the brake pedal then it is one of the brake lights if when you turn the lights on at the stalk then one of the driving/parking lights.

If it's the rear (high mounted) brake light, then the bulb should be a 921.

Here is a good source to check what all the bulbs are:

Its either a buld or...Another very comon problem with Camrys is the wiring harness that runs along the left (drivers side) trunk hingge arm. The wires will break inside the wire loom. All the lights on the trunk it self may still work though. This is because the current is feeding back through other circuits. Anyways lift the trunk and follow this harness till it meets the carpet trim peice, open up the loom and fix the wires. When I do this repair I always fix any wires that arnt broken yet also. I also add about 5-6 inches of wire to the harness so it will flex easier.
Good luck
